As the development of micro-electronics product such as mobile phone, digital camera and so on, the small-scale and portable projection system will be a mainsream in the future,thus projection technology urgently needs to carry out a revolution of portable type. Mini-projection technology is rapidly emerging as the new hot spot for development of the industry. LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) projection technology is one of the development direction of mini-projection at present.This article first introduced aberration theory and the ZEMAX optical design software, and then adopted structure of the telecentric retrofocus lens according to aberration theory and design experience of the projection lens, as well as the characteristics of LCOS microdisplay chip. The relationship among the structure parameters of the telecentric retrofocus lens was analyzed by the Gaussian optics. Finally, according to design index of the LCOS mini-projection lens, a U.S. patent was selected as a prototype, then it was optimized with the help of ZEMAX optical design software.A LCOS mini-projection Lens which has the advantages of small semi-diameter, total track of lens in 80mm, field of view of 72°, projection screen up to 28", and the lens of which are made of domestic commonly used glass was obtained. The results was satisfying through the tolerance analysis of the LCOS mini-projection lens at last.
