The Study Of Institutional Repositories Model Construction In China

The Open Access motion sprung up in the 1990's,it has relieved the"academic exchange crisis"and"serials price crisis"appearing in academic circles and press circles. Budapest Open Access Initiative(BOAI) pointed out that the Open Acess improving the availability of the academic information,realizing academic information resource sharing and it is a new effective and feasible public model. The Institutional Repositories is one of the way for Open Access,and more and more researchers become focusing on it,and the number of Institutional Repositories increased phenomenally.Compared with foreign countries,the number and the quantity of Institutional Repositories in our contry has a gap. Most domestic reseach of Institutional Repositories stress on the theory,the practical research of the Institutional Repositories is not too much.So,this paper tries to expanding the theoretical research field and promoting the Institutional Repositories building from the practical view of the Institutional Repositories.This paper contains three major parts. In the first part,firstly,this paper made a detailed investigation of general situation about abroad,especially in the USA,Europe and Japan.Secondly,this paper made an investigation and contrastive analysis about the situation of Institutional Repositories in the homeland continent,Hong Kong and Taiwan.The second part made an analysis to the priority of Institutional Repositories constructing model,and summed up three kinds of Institutional Repositories resource construction models and two kinds of Institutional Repositories services models.This part also introduces some abroad examples of Institutional Repositories that run successfully.In the third Part,this paper made a SWOT analysis about the environment of Institutional Repositories in our country , proposed the strategy of Institutional Repositories' constructing model,and constructed the Institutional Repositories resource constructing model and service model according to the first two parts.The result of this paper hopes benefiting for the Institutional Repositories in our country.
