Since the establishment of new China, sports news industry along with the common development of various undertakings has grown from childishness to maturity and deeply influenced people's thinking and life attitude. Recalling the history of China's sports news, every stage has its own development path. In between 1949 to 1966, China completed the creation of a socialist newspaper industry and the publication of "New Sports" magazine and "Sports Daily" marks a milestone in new China's sports journalism. On the 16th day after the founding of People's Republic of China, the General Assembly of the People in Beijing were covered on People's Daily, the official newspaper of Communist party, thus opening a new prelude to China's sports coverage. Since then, the sports news gains a great attention from sports fans as independent news specie. In 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began, during which the party, the state and the people suffered the most serious civil unrest since the founding of new China, so did the sports news industry. Not only the" New Sports" and "Sports Daily" went out of business, but also sports programs were almost off-air on central and local television. In 1966-1976, due to the ceased publication of professional sports press, People's Daily played an important role in sports news reporting.
