Research Of Network Performance In S-MAX System

Some WiMAX Network Management Systems have been implemented in recent years, but those systems just acquire simple data from managed devices, while the network performance optimization has not been designed. The QoS mechinanism as the unique factor of WiMAX has became a new research point to improve the performance of network management and the optimization of network resource allocation.This paper first discusses the basic concepts of WiMAX and the fundamental techniques of network management, and then systematic describes the features of MAC layer of IEEE 802.16-2004 protocol and the structures of network management. For the problem of low utilization of network resource, after an in-depth study of QoS mechanisms of WiMAX network and service flow management, finally proposes a performance management solution for S-MAX network management system. This solution depends on the features of network service. On the EMS system part, it maps the typical service configurations and user pre-defined configurations into the special connections through service scheduler. On the AGENT system part, through the designs of QoS components and the creation of service flow, it achieves the management of BS QoS paramer set and service flow properties. Above two parts together consistitute the performance management of S-MAX system that will improve the resource ultilization of WiMAX network and the performance of S-MAX system.
