The WiMAX mobile technology has been concerned by more and more people in recent years. WiMAX as a "last mile" access standard has been supported by all governments, the communication manufacturers and operators. It is necessary to make in-depth research on WiMAX, in order to manage network effectively and conveniently.The design and development of WiMAX micro base station monitoring system is mainly discussed in this paper. WiMAX base station has a complicated structure, its performance configuration, debug-ability, fault detecting, and system update and so on play an important role in the operation and maintenance of the whole communication system. The maintenance and operation of WiMAX micro base station is mainly achieved through two ways: one way to achieve management is through the MML order or graphics instructions using private protocol; another way is through the SNMP protocol.In the development of base station, I fully studied up on IEEE802.16f and SNMP series of protocol, and had a in-depth research on internal structure of WiMAX base station equipment, management network of WiMAX and the operation, on the base of the detailed analysis of typical management model of NodeB, I give out a management model and a protocol model of WiMAX. Compared with NodeB management system, the management system has the following improvements: Add the graphics display function of fault alarm and enhance to the function of positioning error alarm, which can accurately position error in the various modules; Add the remote debugging function, users can debug systems by using Telnet. It integrates SNMP Agent function in the OAM, users could manage base station through standard SNMP protocol. The system could provide with such functions including configuration and maintenance management, log management, files management, fault management and user management, and achieved the normal communication between OAM and LMT.OAM is the embedded application. It needs to achieve management with LMT. It provides a maintenance and management platform for users with LMT, so in the nextpart of this paper, the structural framework of LMT is also given.
