With a new paradigm in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), people's living standard has been greatly improved.At the same time,the demands on the environment are more and more strict and the society has been paying attention to environmental issues. large-scale Wireless sensor network systems will interact with the physical environment in a ubiquitous and pervasive fashion.ZigBee is designed as a low-cost, low-power, low-data rate wireless network technology.ZigBee technology uses the globally available, license-free 2.4GHz frequency band, and based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for wireless personal area networks.Today, organizations use ZigBee effectively deliver solutions for a variety of areas,including consumer electronic device control, energy management and efficiency, home and commercial building automation as well as industrial plant management.The main research objectives of this Thesis are to evaluate the research of wireless sensor network development present situation and the tendency, the present situation of gas detection,and the Thesis mainly introduces the hardware(ZC,ZR,ZED) and software design of the wireless sensor network node for gas detection. Finally, the design of a dedicated upper computer system mkes the applications more tremendous.A sensor networks was presented as the design of wireless gas detection system based on ZigBee technique .The data detected by sensor terminal unit is transmitted to coordinator via Z-Stack2006 wireless communication protocol ,then coordinator transmits the data to PC through the USB to serial port .Finally ,the data is calculated and shown in the upper computer .User's data is wireless ,real-time monitored by this system .So the system has many advantages ,such as high reliability ,low power ,and good practicality.ZigBee has been developed to meet the growing demand for capable wireless networking between numerous lowpower devices. This new level of communication permits finely-tuned remote monitoring and manipulation.ZigBee is being used for next generation automated manufacturing.
