With the growth in the living standard, the pace of life is accelerating as well. Cars and various household appliances have gradually entered the ordinary family. Therefore, new demands are put forwards continuously for the level of various intelligent appliances and transportation equipments. Multi-function Interface Converter researched in this paper is used to improve the intelligence of cars and househole appliances, and monitor the vehicles operating conditions in real time through the wireless network, and diagnose the vehicles breakdown online. You can also operate various household appliances and instruments by remote -controlling.The paper want it occupy less space, consume less time, and work with higher security for the research and design of Multi-function Interface Converter. For this reason, the paper used FPGA chip to implement complex node controlling and data transferring. FPGA shortened the developing time and accelerated the product listing for the attributes of semi-custom. Meanwhile, by the development of FPGA technology, the density of logic cells of chip increased, the package size decreased, so did it to the space occupied on PCB board. Therefore, it can reduce the development and production costs effectively.The paper focuses on realizing each field bus controller and the mutual data conversion on FPGA chips. Firsitly, the paper analysised and summaried the the CAN, USB and other bus protocol in-depth, then divided the whole system into modules, and achieved with Verilog code, finally, did the function simulation and the timing simulation for each module. The hardware platform in this paper is the Spartan-3E development board of Xilinx. The model of the chip selected is XC3S1200E. The paper achieved the CAN node controller,RS-232 Transceiver,CAN switch to RS-232 data module and the CAN switch to USB data module. The paper used Modelsim SE to do the functions simulation. The results showed that the research reached the expected goal. In the last part of this paper summarizes the research achievements and deficiency as well as the work to be undertaken in future.
