With the development of integrated circuit technology, the operating speed of digital signal processor is becoming higher and higher. The signals in real world mostly are analog signals. Therefore analog-to-digital converters (ADC s) are key blocks in the mixed signal system.Analog digital converter is the most important block in most design field, is the crucial part of the interface of analog system and digital system, is widely used in communication, military, and Consumer electronic products, ect. From those price sensitive produce such as scanners, to image processing products and super high speed military communication. In many apply, cost-effective is the crucial factor, so the optimization of the performance of ADC is the most important. With the development of the computer and communication industry, ADCs used in PDA is rapidly increased, and gradually to high speed, high resolution, low power dissipation.Successive approximation register analog digital converter is generally seen when the sample rate is lower than 5Msps, the resolution is 8 to 16, with the advantage of small size and low power dissipation, which make SAR-ADC widely being used in portable battery-powered instrument, pen-input quantizer, industry controller and digital signal collector, ect.A full differential 12bit ADC used in touch screen controller is designed in this thesis. The circuit is simulated based on 0.6μm 2P2M mixed-CMOS technology with CADENCE spectre. The simulation results show that it satisfies the requirements.
