Leasing activity is a normal business model in the present society. One basic future of this kind of business is to transfer the usufruct of assets. Leasing activity in our country is going to be developed very fast within the economic advancement. Business like car leasing or bicycle leasing is main stream in leasing activities. There are amount of assets in this kind of business, and they flow everywhere. These specialties make the management and service of assets become a big problem and the advancement of leasing activity has been restricted. Assets tracking and service network is needed by leasing enterprises. The network should cover a wide area to fulfill the demand of renting and returning assets at different places, and assets may be served anywhere. On the other hand, an effective method of identifying assets is required by corporations. This method is also can be used to monitor the status of assets, to control the business process, and to avoid the counterfeits. The study in this thesis is not only useful to the leasing activity, but also has great value in the development of assets tracking with RFID technology. The peculiarity of several tracking methods, tracking scheme and their applicability were discussed at the beginning of this thesis. To solve the problem in leasing assets management, we presented the Assets Tracking and Service Architecture. It was based on the Open RFID Public Service Platform, which had been presented earlier by our group. The architecture had three layers, which were Data Carrier Layer, Tracking Network Layer and Management & Service Layer. Tracking Network Layer, which collected and stored the data, was the kernel of this architecture. It was consisted of one or more Regional Tracking Network. And two kinds of expansion method were supported. A data model of this architecture was presented by this thesis. AssetID, Asset Static Data and Asset Dynamic Data were included in it. A data storing method which combined distributed and centralized mechanism was researched. This method was accommodated to the demand of management. A data synchronization mechanism based on RFID tag was studied and presented to implement the data exchange in Tracking Network Layer. Data accessing between different Regional Tracking Networks was supported by Code Resolving Service and Code Discovery Service. Because the route of moving assets was uncertain and not like a chain, an improved registration method in Code Discovery Service was researched, which had the ability to find out whether assets were moving across the boundary of Regional Tracking Network and to trigger registration action. This method could avoid useless registering of the relationship between assets and network. In the design of Data Carrier Layer, Data were divided into Basic Data and Dynamic Data. Dynamic Data were stored on RFID tag in the form of Key Data. They could support business process without the connection of Internet. Tracking Network Layer was consisted of End Point and Data Exchange Center. RFID data were collected, filtrated and cached by End Point, as well as businesses were processed by it. Data Exchange Center stored all assets data of its own Regional Tracking Network. This could assure the reliability of the data in architecture, accelerate the speed of data accessing, and implement part of the Code Resolve Service and Code Discovery Service. Code Resolve Service and Code Discovery Service in Management & Service Layer were inherited from Open RFID Public Service Platform. To adapt for the specificity of leasing assets management, Code Resolve Service were simplified into two layers, the industry layer and corporation layer. Code Discovery Service was implemented in the form of industry discovery center. Based on the detailed design above, the threat of data exchange with RFID technology and on Internet were analyzed in this thesis, and some security policies were presented.Integrated with a bicycle battery leasing & exchange project, an implementation and deployment of Assets Tracking and Service Architecture was presented. Part of the research results were validated in this application system.
