With the increasing capacity of power generating sets, higher standard of safe and economical operation is now required to the power plant, and an important means to make sure that the boiler runs in a safe way without any explosion is monitoring the furnace flame accurately and reliable. Aiming at the disadvantages of the traditional furnace flame detection technology such as single function, inaccurate detection results and so on, a new furnace flame diagnosis system based on digital image processing technology is designed in this paper.The research status of furnace flame detection technology home and abroad is summarized in this paper. The related subjects such as modern computer technology, digital image processing technology and combustion theory are also deeply studied in this paper, meanwhile, the principles, methods, difficulties and solutions of the furnace flame diagnosis system based on digital image processing technology is also described in detail.CCD camera is used in this paper as primary sensing element, and the digital images are put into computer through the image acquisition card, at the same time, the parameter of images could be set up; The enhancement technology, de-noising technology, and edge processing technology to the flame images are used in the paper based on digital image processing technology; Radiant energy is calculated through the furnace radiation theory; Two-dimensional temperature field is created based on the two-color method with an exhaustive error analysis and color compensation to CCD; The monitoring software is also developed well by C# in Visual Studio 2005, which meets the requirements of the system very well.The furnace flame diagnosis system based on digital image processing technology is put forward in this paper, the new system overcomes the shortcoming of traditional furnace flame detection technology, can effectively prevent the occurrence of accidents , guarantee the furnace in security and improve efficiency.
