The stability of boiler combustion directly affects the safety and economy of a power plant. In order to reliably detect combustion status in boiler furnace in time, to prevent furnace explosion and other situations from happening, it's necessary for utility boiler to equip a functional flame detecting system with reliable performance. Integrating advanced image optical fibers, CCD image sensors, image grabbers and high performance industry computers etc. as hardware system, a flame detecting system is devised and developed. An upper workstation and flame detectors structure is adopted. Meanwhile, a video switch matrix and a video distributor are designed. Based on hardware system design, the software suitable for this hardware environment is developed. The upper workstation software implements such functions as image monitoring, image analysis, history video and alarm data examining, etc. and the flame detector software carries out circular multi-channel flame video signal detecting and alarm information processing.
