Image monitoring system is an integrated system combined with computer technology,communication technology and multimedia technology.For its intuitionistic,convenient,and abundant message characteristic,it is widely used in industry manufacture,traffic,communication,power station,etc.With the development of embedded technology and image processing technology,Real-timer transmission and control of network under digital image data has realized.As a new monitoring system,image monitoring system based on embedded linux has outstanding advantages in stability, processing speed,price,expansibility and other factors compared with traditional monitoring system,Meanwhile,it represents the important direction of current image monitoring system.This paper designs an image monitoring system based on embedded linux.The web server program runs under the embedded Linux system platform which adopts ARM-kernel S3C2410 as its CPU.Server runs in the backstage and waits for clients' request.When server receives the request from client,it will send collected image data to client through network.Firstly,this paper introduces the backgroup and history of monitoring system and the status of the domestic and foreign research,then introduces embedded system,linux and network technology.Based on this,the whole system design is divided into hardware design and software design two parts.In hardware design part,explains especially the S3C2410 chip.In software design part,discusses cross-compiler environment establishment,and the transplantations of Bootloader and embedded linux on the ARM platform,Then researches structures of Linux devices and network device driver realization.After introducing V4L,image gathering and network transmission under embedded linux are realized.Finally,the experiment result shows that the system realizes the function of image monitor and reaches the predetermined target.
