The publishing industry in China has advanced into a rapidly changing era. The publishing industry is an important sector of the domestic economy. Therefore, the research of how to develop and strengthen China's publishing industry in order to better serve China's socialism development undoubtedly has a great theoretical and practical significance. Based on the historical and current development of the publishing industry both at home and abroad, the author of the thesis gave a comprehensive and synthetically analysis of the publishing industry by interactively using the economics, management science and communications as well as the latest research and academic achievements, making the thesis an in-depth work with fresh and unique ideas focusing on the publishing industry.Integrating quantitative and qualitative methods, the thesis explores the main characteristics and rules in the development of the publishing industry, based on an in-depth research and analysis of research literature with plenty of data and cases.This thesis is divided into five parts, which are illustrated as follows. The first chapter is an introduction to the China's publishing industry and illustrates the significance and research methodologies and the profile of the present research papers on the significance of the thesis and research methods used as well as a synopsis, The second chapter is a review of the current publishing industry in China and gives an in-depth analysis of the current situation, opportunities and risk of the industry. The chapter also rules out the problems challenging China's publishing industry and the causes of those problems. The third chapter casts its view on the western countries which boast most advanced publishing industries, through which the author discusses on the main characteristics and the reasons of the publishing industry. Chapter IV discusses on adopting and comparing the development experience of the industry in the developed countries. Chapter V highlights the policy options in developing the publishing industry, giving an in-depth analysis of the industry policies and industry development respectively as well as the transformation of the mode of growth, business model described. Finally, advices and recommendations on the development of China's publishing industry are proposed.
