The industry of book publishing is an important part of cultural industries and thebuilding of spiritual civilization, the development is related to the overall development ofChina’s cultural industry, related to the improvement of the country’s comprehensive strength.It has become one of the ten pillar industries of national economy in western developedcountries.The publishing industry is showing a thriving scene with the reform and opening up.Mainly in the wealth of species, expansion of the scale, reasonable structure and frequenttrading of copyright. But there are also have many shortcomings, which need to learn andimprove in the fierce international competition. To this end, this article is used the analyticalframework of the competitive intelligence of industry and combination of publishing industrycompetitiveness evaluation index system to analysis of the competitiveness of China’spublishing industry. Use the method of SWOT to analysis strengths, weaknesses,opportunities and threats of the book publishing industry. Only if enhance strengths,overcome weaknesses, seize opportunities, avoid threats will our book publishing be getfaster and better development.There are five parts in the thesis. Part I: Introduction. Introduce the background, purpose,meaning and research status of competitive intelligence of domestic and international.Propose the method of this study, the general idea and innovation of the article. Part II: Thestudy of Competitive Intelligence of Industry. Elaborate on the industry competitiveintelligence such as the concept of industry competitive intelligence, research points andindustry competitive intelligence system. Part III: The study of competitiveness of industry.Elaborate about the concept, content, features, industrial competitiveness analysis frameworkand evaluation system. Part IV: The case study of competitive intelligence of the bookpublishing industry. This is also the most important content of this article. First, build analysisframework and evaluation index system of industry competitive according to thecharacteristics of the publishing industry which is suitable for China. Second, combine theindustry competitive analysis with industry competitive intelligence in order to analysisspecific factors affecting of China’s publishing industrial competitiveness. Third, use themethod of SWOT to analysis the internal strengths and weaknesses, external opportunitiesand threats. Finally, put forward countermeasures and suggestions to enhance theinternational competitiveness of China’s publishing industry. Part V: Summary and Outlook.
