Business Intelligence Application In Supermarket's Supply Chain Management

Business Intelligence System is a kind of system which analyze business data by using data warehouse, OLAP (Online Analysis Processing) and DM (Data Mining)。Supply chain management Business Intelligence System (BI-SCM) is the system that analyzes supply chain business data to help supply chain manager make decisions on supply chain management with the help of BI methodology and tools.This project established a BI system based on CB super market's supply chain OLTP database, which provides supply chain performance indicators, SCM decisions support models. The managers can optimize their SCM activities by referencing performance indicators and decision support models.This paper demonstrated the supply chain theories at first, then introduced the supermarket's supply chain management theories and supply chain performance evaluation methodology, and finally gave a performance indicators system for CB super market.CB super market's supply chain management system has already accumulated a large sum of data, which have the demand to setup BI system. This project made out the BI solution by Microsoft SQL SERVER 2005 and Business Intelligence Studio, building up data warehouse, implementing performance indicators and building up decision support models, designing web reporting service. During the developing process, I discussed key technologies in BI implementation such as data warehouse, data integration, OLAP model, and reporting service.When it comes to decision support, the paper provides a"forward need forecasting"model to predict future need which helped to build up purchasing model. In addition, AHP method is introduced in choosing suppliers.The main job of this paper is the need analysis for the CB BI system, building up performance indicators system and decision support models .A prototype BI system was built at last, a sample reports are demonstrated and evaluated. When it comes to BI system development, this paper adopted a general model, which contains five layers: user's GUI,application service,Analysis Service,ETL service,OLTP database. This paper demonstrates the process of building up data warehouse,ETL process,supply chain performance indicators. Finally, the paper made a conclusion of this BI system and forecasted the future development.
