In first , this paper introduce basic knowledge of topology to reader .Then based on the theory of topology , proposed the product design essential factor topological space, namely product design space . In the product design space, elaborated in detail the product function, the product mix, the designers, between the design resources five design essential factor's mapping relates and restricts the relations; Has pointed out the product function in the design space foundational function .According to logic hierarchy of product function, the design process has been divided into five parties: synthetically stage, sub-synthetically stage, component stage, base function stage and parts stage. And the model of function division has also been built. Based the theories of topology and matrix, the design space has been divided into six subspaces which composed by : design person, product function, product frame, product performance, design resource and environment constraining .The topological relationship of every design subspace has been discussed. The processing of building the management application model of mechanical design process, which based function and topological frame, has been expatiated. The ideas and details which in the process of developing generalized management application of mechanical design have also been formulated. The multicolor matrix display technology has been raised.The establishment of the mechanical design process management software itself evaluation indicators has been Proposed and evaluation system, at the same time, establishment of the mechanical design and process management evaluation system has been proposed.
