Abstract/Summary:
The patriarchs of software engineering have tirelessly sought methods that would eventually spawn a process for software creation. This process would produce consistently successful results. The quest led to the creation of life cycles and process models that are believed to produce reputable results. This creation has allowed the field of software engineering to unite with various disciplines. The benefits of this young discipline are far-reaching and countless industries depend heavily on quality software for their survival and growth. The pro audio software industry is no different and has seen fruit in many recording studios and home computers across the world. In light of the lack of formal process knowledge for this industry, the goal of this thesis is to create the framework of a process model specifically tailored to the industry and to demonstrate the application of the process model throughout the first three phases of the life cycle.
