USB is the bussing technique to support the bidirectional synchronous dada transfers and plug and play with low-cost and low-power. It provides an extensible and expediently-used peripheral equipment interface that is compatible for high-speed and low-speed data transfers. The module of serial interface engine is the very important part in USB Audio hardware structure and it deals with data processing.IP cores can be used to accelerate the process of IC design due to its reusability and portability, so the design and development for USB Audio can be sped up if the IP core is used.Hardware structure of USB Audio has been introduced in detail based on USB specification, and the design flow of IP core technique has been described in this thesis. Both USB Audio and it's serial interface engine are partited into some modules using the IP core, and then design and verification approach of the USB Audio and it's serial interface engine have been provided.Serial interface engine of USB Audio has been introduced in detail based on the USB specification 1.1, and then the FSM has been extracted to realize the function of data-path with the theory of FSM. The serial interface engine deals with the data processing with the control of the FSM.
