Harbor is the main part of transportation. In our country the harbor developed by 30 years hard working, especially after the reform and open. The total throughputs of harbors are 50 billions in China in 2006, the throughputs of containers are 9.5 millions TEU. There are so many modern harbor came forth.The request of harbor machines is higher and higher with the rapid development of the harbor. For a long time, the design method of loading and unloading harbor machine mostly adopts the static design, then they would choose the appropriate materials and design plans for manufacture. But in actual operation, because of vibration, fatigue and error operation and so on, the structure will be destroyed. So we need a concision, economical and effectble way to research the structure dynamics of huge harbor machines.If the technique of virtual prototype is introduced in study of port machinery, it can simulate all kinds of working conditions by computer and get the data of structure dynamics simulation. Using the data we can find and solve the trouble. So we can make the production satisfy with the design request utmostiy, at the same time we can save the charge of exploitation, shorten the period of exploitation, enhance the efficiency of production. It also has some reference value for the dynamic analysis and calculation of harbor machines.This article taking the 800t/h grab unloading crane as a prototype, using three-dimensional solid modeling software of UG to establish the model of the unloading crane, Carries on the dynamics simulation analysis with finite element analysis software ANSYS and virtual prototype dynamics analyze software platform ADAMS, and than realize the simulation of grab unloading crane in the situation of hoisting mechanism, running gear and luffer working conditions with the change of the load, interrelated data which is get in the simulation analysis offers effective methods on dynamic design of integrated system of grab unloading crane.In a word, virtual prototype study of grab unloading crane is a trial that apply advanced design, analysis and simulation techniques in design of port crane and offers efficient tool and method to design port crane that is economic, credible, stable and high performance.
