Motion capture facilitates computer animation a lot.But this technique has some problems too,for example,the use of the device restricted by the field,noise in the capture data and the reuse of the capture data.As the development of motion capture, the demand of motion editing technique increases.Through the motion editing,we can get the new motion data fitting a new environment.In this paper,motion capture technique was investigated first of all. Human motions were captured using capture device which is produced by Ascension Technology Corporation.The captured data will control the motions of animation character in real time.Then motion retargeting and motion path editing technology were investigated .In our motion retargeting motion,a new adaptation principle for end-effector constraint was introduced to solve foot hang-in-the-air and the footstep slip in the editing process.The new motion can keep the dynamics of the original motion.First,the position of the end-effector was computed according to the adaptation principle and as the constraint in each frame.Then ,the root position was adapted according to the constraint in every frame.Per-frame editing technique was used in our method and can compute in real time .Our method has less manual interference than traditional ones.In our motion path editing,a new algorithm which kept the velocity of foot movement unchanged was put forward to solve the footstep slip in editing process. First,location of foot was computed in every frame as initial constraint.When the motion path was changed,constraints were updated automatically according to the principle of unchanged velocity of foot movement .This automatic method reduces the manual interference existing in traditional ones.Then per-frame Inverse Kinematics algorithm was used to solve foot-constraints in real time . Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm solves footstep slip effectively.Motion editing platform was built using MFC and OpenGL.Now it can carry out motion retargeting and motion path editing.
