This thesis focuses on the technology of multi-character motion editing. A motion choreographing system based on 3D captured data is designed and implemented, which brings convenience for users to interactively create multi-character animation. The main contents explored by this thesis are as follows:1. Develop a Laplacian motion curve editing system for motion path planning and time warping, which can be used to adjust motion path and timing dynamically in the virtual world. Experimental results show that our method is efficient and easy to use.2. Implement two methods to deal the collisions for multi-characters. When collision happens, system can detect the forces among involved virtual characters automatically. After the collision, the current pose of the characters can be set by IK. If the character is balanced with current pose, we blend the current pose and the next pose in the original motion and generate a new motion with the time warping technique based on the blended result, which is finally inserted into the original motion. If the character is unbalanced with current pose, dynamic simulation technique is employed to change the original poses and simulate the falling motion.3. Provide a multithreading API to access and edit the motions in a large motion database.4. Build an integrated system for multi-character motion choreographing with modules of database access API, the editing of the motion's path and timing and the handle of collision, which completely meets the demand of animators for multi-character motion editing.
