With the development of ultrasonic technology, monolithic computer technology and GPRS(General Packet Radio System) technology, a design of sewage flow measurement system is introduced. The sewage flow measurement system is a kind of new flow measurement system based on ultrasonic technology, monolithic computer technology and GPRS transmission control technology. At many aspects such as stability, practicability, and scalability, precision, price, functions and etc, it has outstanding priority to traditional measurement system. Thus, he research and development of the sewage flow measurement system have great significance.On the basis of a lot of references in the interrelated research domain and generalizing predecessors' research work, according to the actual situation we adopt the project of the sewage flow measurement system which takes AT89C51 monolithic computer as its core and can meet the needs of industrial application. The system collects water-level and velocity of flow, then calculate the flux, AT89C51 micro-processor transfers water-level data and velocity of flow, coming from exterior sensor, to the serial port of the micro-processor. AT89C51 micro-processor connects GPRS module with serial port. AT89C51 sends data to GPRS server by GPRS module, and then the server sends the data to the computer of the control center, whose IP address is given in the sewage flow data by internet.The paper introduces the technology needed to be broken through in three aspects for designing the sewage flow measurement system: ultrasonic technology, monolithic computer technology and GPRS technology; and claims the overall design of sewage flow measurement system; designs the peripheral circuit of ultrasonic water-level sensor and velocity of flow sensor; completes the hardware design which includes the main chip, TLC2543, EEPROM2864 and SRAM6264, LCD, RS232 interface, GPRS module etc; introduces the chip type selection and detailed description of the working principle of the chip, and draws the Schematic diagram; in software design, completes the programme of LCD show and serial communications; according to the principle of GPRS, establishes TCP/IP communications, completes program design in Client and application, draws the the flow chart of program design.At last, the paper provides a review and generalizes the work done, the inadequacies of the present system and the way forward to improve the performance.The system realizes a practicality convenient and low-cost sewage flow measurement system design, which has great prospect for further development and application in the future.
