China's university press, which is generally acknowledged as a significant constituent of China's publishing industry, has made dazzling achievements after more than two decades'developments .It has secured its say and its influence is apparently felt. In the promise of the cut-throat competition among peer social publishing houses, how to clear a path for future advancements is on the agenda and the appeal for reform is increasingly stronger.This dissertation begins by summing up the historical development of China's university press and points out the problems facing them. As a matter of fact, building up modern enterprise system is the key to get around these problems. This dissertation puts forward detailed solutions as for how to institute corporation system, how to better establish the internal organization of the publishing houses and even how to properly arrange human resources. In view of the fact that the university presses are subordinate to the corresponding universities, it is supreme to maintain cooperative relation between each other. This dissertation manifests that professionalism, with its emphasis on quality of the books, is the surest route for futuristic development. In addition, specialization is a most potential and far-reaching strategy for China's university presses.
