The logistics is known as "the potential mainland in the economic field" and "the third source of profit" as it can save a lot of costs and expenses. In China, the logistics terminology was introduced in the mid 1980s, and the Logistics of Publishing Industry was becoming more popular in the early 1990s, and had caused the industry's attention to its development trend.Since the late 1990s in the 20th century, the Logistics of Publishing Industry has become the chain headquarters'necessary support from the original small-scale, manual and the subsidiary "second-class citizen". And the modern logistics established on the information flow though the network, has become the key to the cost control and the improvement of the stores'core competitiveness. It can be said vividly that China's logistics industry has experienced a change from "a slave" to "a general". After 2003, the centers for Logistics of Publishing Industry developed quickly, and large-scaled development is taking shape, of which Zhejiang Xinhua Bookstore is a famous model. But because the logistics management starts late in China, the overall level of development is relatively low, coupled with many problems caused by our long-termed planned economy, therefore, compared with the developed countries, there is a gap between our Logistics of Publishing Industry and theirs in both logistics management and social logistics service. After China's entry into WTO in 2003, China's business of the books retail and books wholesale has been being opened up to the world. The foreign capital which is represented by Bertelsmann has begun to enter China's publishing distribution market, and got enormous profits with its advanced logistics equipments, management and service, for which the profit space of domestic logistics was squeezed. The basic characteristics and demands of the market economy are the open, the fairness and justice, and the survival of the fittest is the law of market competition. So if the domestic Logistics of Publishing Industry cannot strengthen itself and catch up, the market of our Logistics of Publishing Industry will fully be taken up by foreign logistics enterprises, which is extremely unfavorable to our country's national publishing industry. All along, there are almost no results about the Logistics of Publishing Industry in China's theoretical study and practical field, and the differences in national conditions make us cannot be on a par, so China's logistics constructions is always groping its way, and how to make a modern logistics system has yet to be formed consensus. By linking theory with practice and summarizing the achievements and shortcomings, this study aims at proposing useful suggestions to promote the healthy development of the logistics industry in China. Based on the modern logistics theory, with the reading of the research results at home and abroad in recent years, the paper adopts the method of theory analysis and case study. Research on the Internet also provides a wealth of reference sources, such as the latest management theory or practice dynamic on the professional web site.
