An increasing trend towards a new manufacturing model with the objective of'low cost, customization, and zero customer lead time'is occurring due to customers demanding their orders for individual products or services be fulfilled instantly and at price near the price of standard products or services, and due to manufacturers longing for satisfying individual customer's needs with instant fulfillment as customers articulate their needs. If enterprises implement three-dimensional concurrent engineering, they may shorten time of developing new products and market. Quality function deployment is a customer-oriented design tool for developing new or improved products to increase customer satisfaction. Therefore, enterprises apply quality function deployment to three-dimensional concurrent engineering, so that they can deliver customers demanding product as rapidly as possible.Firstly, this paper analyzes literature review about quality function deployment. Then this paper is pointed out extended house of quality based on some shortage on traditional house of quality. The framework of extended house of quality is a stretch in traditional house of quality. Requirement of customers may be translated into two different kinds of character engineering measures by extended quality function deployment. Extended quality function deployment breaks through traditional quality function deployment through which requirement of customers may be converted into the same kind character engineering measures, so application of extended quality function deployment is broaderSecondly, applying extended quality function deployment (EQFD) to three-dimensional concurrent engineering is introduced. EQFD may be deployed into four stages, that is requirement of customers converted into demand of supply chain design and development of products, demand of design converted into design of parts and supply chain, demand of parts converted into engineering measures and design of supply chain, and engineering measure converted into design of supply chain and demand of production.Finally, taken an example as developing MP3 player, this paper is showed how to apply EQFD to three-dimensional concurrent engineering, and expected to help enterprises to use the tool of EQFD.
