The hot roll product line in LianZhong Steel Company is the mass hot roll product line with the world leading technology of the 1990s. However, the original software and hardware of control system cannot meet the requirements of modern production. Based on the original system, the objective of this research is to improve the hardware and programming ideal, and develop a distribution control system based on the PLC, so as to improve the accuracy of the flying shear control system of LianZhong Steel Company.As a member in the computer family, programmable logic controller(PLC) is designed for technologic control application. Implementing traditional relay control technologies and integrating with the modern computer and telecommunication technologies, it provides various functions such as logic control, timing control, enumerative control, PID control, and data processing. As the hardcore of the control system, PLC is widely applied to modern industrial control and automatization production for its multifunctional, steady and reliable quality.Adopt the latest Mitsubishi Q series PLC,and update the programming method. In terms of the requirements of the software project, the researcher combines the PLC programming characteristic with the OO programming ideal, rebuilt the field control PLC software. The software system comprises seven components which are inputting module, operating mode and cutting type choosing module, tracking module, cutting module, manual operating module, outputting module, and alarming module. The program is reliably working and conveniently operating. The armor plate is high-accurately cut and the errors are clearly shown and classified. Besides, the uncoupling among the modules enables each one functions independently, which makes the future maintenance and update more convenient.After the strict individual test and the systematic test with the entire hot roll product line, the flying shear control system meets the expected requirement, which shows that the research achievement and the designing ideal and implement methods in this paper are rational and feasible. This research also provides actual reference for the similar development of the flying shear system.
