At present, computer has been widely applied to the scientificresearch and teaching course of various curricula in higher education. Itis of great significance to cultivate autonomous learning in the processof college computer teaching, because it is beneficial to continuouslearning and life-long education. The course Computer Cultural Basis istO improve the students' computer application capability and informationquality. Most of specialized courses of Inner Mongolia NormalUniversity specialty are designed to cultivate students of multipleorientations to contribute to the foundation education in Inner Mongolia.At present, the fundamental-computer curriculum is just a continuationof the information technology course in high school. Students learn onlythe basic computer theories and operating skills of some applicationsoft-wares. The adjusting of the teaching plan to meet the need of theinformation development of education has become an important issue.Based on my five years' teaching experiences, I am aware of the existedproblems: students are taught only operating skills in most of theirfundamental-computer Curricula, instead of being cultivated to improvetheir ability. As a result, students hardly can apply the book learning intothe practice. It is urgent to change this situation. According to analyzingand comparing different study theories in literatures, we find that theproject-based learning mode is suitable to the teaching ofFundamental-computer Curricula in universities. In project-based learning mode (PBL), the designed project serves as a link between theprofessional knowledge and computer skill of students. The applicationof PBL into the teaching of Computer Cultural Basis can help studentsto use the knowledge they learn to solve practical problems. Combinedwith the project "the Teaching Reform and Practical Study in UniversityFundamental-computer Curricula" and based on the course of ComputerCultural Basis in university, the paper researches on the following threeaspects: 1. Design the teaching mode of the curricula, develop theteaching system based on projects, and construct the related informationresource and estimate tables; 2. Design different projects based ondifferent specialties. Design flowsheet, assign teaching hours, andchoose appropriate teaching ways according to teaching plan; 3. Designteaching quality estimate tables to analysis and contrast students' studyquality.In practice, it is proved that the application of PBL in the teachingin university Fundamental-computer Curricula can improve students'information quality, application ability, development ability, innovationability and learning efficiency. It also can extend students' ability ofmanaging projects, collecting information, organizing,showingexpression and self-examination.
