Analysis Of Current Situation And Prediction Of Perspective Of Public Libraries In Guangdong Province

As a crucial part of the socialist culture enterprise, public library is entitled the mission to promote knowledge and science, which gives enormous support to the economic development and the social advances in our society mentally and intellectually. The rapid growth of Guangdong's economy, in particular along with the promotion of the Culture Province Scheme, has opened an unprecedented opportunity to the development of public libraries in Guangdong. Nevertheless, one should be fully aware of the challenges ahead due to the incapable self-identification commonly found among public libraries, underdeveloped legislation, regional differences and internal defects of the evaluation system. That leads to the conclusion that a down to earth approach with a clear awareness of the situation and an unswerving pursuit of the principles: "by the law", "for the people", "justice" and "mutual benefits" is critical for the stable development of the province's public libraries under the frame of the Culture Province Scheme.The thesis focus on today's public library and set forth a prediction on its future based on the current statistics. Problems found at this stage are analyzed with an attempt to construct a feasible development strategy.
