Auto meter reading (AMR) is a technology that reads and deals with the data of energy meter using modern electric. The development of AMR can improve the manage level of energy consumption, also it is the trend of meter reading according to the development of network and computer technology. AMR has developed greatly in recent years, but many disadvantages are existing, for example, poor reliability, bad safety and disunity communication protocols.To avoid the disadvantages of most AMR systems, a new remote AMR system which communicates based on GPRS and DLMS/COSEM protocol. The paper presented the structure and hardware of the system, completed the design of manage software on the flat of .NET and SQL Server, introduced the implement of communication according DLMS/COSEM in the meter reading. DLMS/COSEM creates a standard meter interface model unified the data identification of energy meter, also it unified the local protocol and the remote protocol of the AMR system, improved the interoperability of AMR system, and increased the compatibility of different manufacturers. GPRS makes the reading efficient and more reliable. Low-voltage power line carriers are based on the existed power line, so it saved the finance. The database SQL Server provides large-scale and multi-user services.The thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter introduces the development of remote AMR system and the former protocols used in AMR system, indicates the research background and the main work of the thesis. The second chapter describes the structure, principle and communication channel of the remote AMR based on DLMS/COSEM. The third chapter gives the design of the manage software such as the selection of tools and database, the demand of function and capability, the management of database. The forth chapter expatiates DLMS/COSEM, discusses the application in the remote AMR system. The fifth chapter presents the reliable design of manage software from test ability, extensible and safety. The last part summarizes the work and innovation of the thesis, indicates the later work, and prospects the development of remote AMR system.
