In our country, the technology of meter measured outdoors is popularizing. So we can get the consumer amount of using water gas and power without enter home. Reading meters by hand will be changed to by machine. But existing reading systems have many disadvantages. The society needed a three meters reading system that is stabilization and credibility. So this project goes on.The article introduced the application background of remote three meters reading system in summary, concluded its development situation home and abroad, define the main work this project had done.The system uses a one kind of communication Mode on asynchronous series port communication of electric Interface RS485.The process of sending data frames is analyzed and communication protocol is made.The paper introduces single chip microcomputer's application in the hardware system of automatic meter reading. The design principle of system's hardware and the nuclear process in MPU are commendably integrated. It described the software of the system. We can get the designing idea and main difficulty. It discussed the technology of reusing code and the communication protocol using in system.The paper also analyzes the unreliable and disturbance factors of the Auto Meter Reading System when it's running, and some effective measures to enhance reliability and anti-disturbance of the system. Through the running and testing, the Auto Meter Reading System we designed was proved to be having a good ability, such as easy on installation and debug, reliability on running, convenience on operating, veracity on data-collecting and so on. It achieves the preconcerted goal, meets the actual requirement, and has a wide application in the projects.
