Industrial Ethernet will play a more and more important role in measurement and control networked system with the elevated speed and improved reliability to support real time operation. In an Industrial Ethernet the measurement/control nodes are doubtlessly the very important units performing on-site real-time data-acquisition/control tasks. The thesis puts its focus on the method of constructing such a node based on the technique of embedded system.Following an introduction of Industrial Ethernet and embedded system, the thesis gives a detailed analysis of TCP/IP protocols. The hardware design of the M/C node is mainly concerned with the usage of SOC ADμC834 that is the kernel of the node, and the Ethernet controller RTL8019AS that performs network communication. Design of the I/O channels with real-time ability, as well as the isolated network interface, are also described in detail. In the design of software, uIP stack is adopted and adapted to meet the 8-bit micro-controller's limited resource, In order to improve the system's real-time performance,μC/OS- II operating system is used. The measurement/control node designed might be developed to real product and be applied to distributed control systems, and also be embedded into equipments, devices, apparatus and instruments, so that enable them to exchange information via Ethernet.
