The excitation of generator plays an important role in power system. A good design excitation can maintain voltage effectively, and improve the stability of system. Compare to other measures focus on improving stability of power system, excitation is more inexpensive and more easily to carry out.Firstly, the paper introduces the developing tendency of the excitation means and the excitation controller. The mathematic models of single generator-infinity strap transmit electricity system and something about the stability of power system also lucubrated in this paper.Secondly, the paper studies the JL-2 excitation controller ,which is one of the two controllers that used in Tianjin Sinopec .The necessity of the parameter optimization is clarified in that part of the paper. A method is introduced by analyzing a representative excitation system model, and optimized parameters are verified through a simulation in MATLAB.Thirdly, this paper makes the studies on nonlinear excitation controller which is the other one of the two controllers that used in Tianjin Sinopec for generators in improving power system stability through digital simulation and dynamic experiment. In order to make a exactitude digital simulation, PSASP and VC are used together to set up the mathematic model of the digital nonlinear excitation controller .The result of simulation indicates that the nonlinear excitation controller plays an important role in improving system stability. In this paper, the writer optimized the parameters of switch-type excitation controller, and also set up a exactitude mathematic model for the digital nonlinear excitation controller. The work is good for the whole research work .
