Excitation installation is an important controlling part of synchronous generator. And it affects the operating characteristics of generator and power system directly. This paper discusses a new excitation regulator based on DSP(TMS320F2812).This paper focuses on the resarch and development of the new excitation control system. This paper introduced the important role of the excitation control system of synchronous generator firstly. Then the characteristic and structure of the usual DSP chip.Lastly the design of software and hardware on the excitation control system is illuminated in detail, presents the schematic diagram of hardware and the flowchart of the software. The hardware design contains the adjusting circuit of ac and dc analog signal, the circuit of ferroelectric random memory and other external circuit such as the design of communication and D/A circuit. The software design contains the main program and the interrupt service subprogram.Then, the main program may complete the initialization of the system, and the interrupt serbice may complete the datas sample and calculation, PID adjusting, limited and protected unit and so on. This design of this test takes advantage of the processing capabilities, plenty of characters peripherals of TMS320F2812, such as high performance on chip and high real time control and so on to realize every function.
