With the increasing demand of people's Broad Band , new types of Broad Band access —EPON emerge as the time require. It is very important that Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is implemented in systhesis service access of EPON. The article comprises design on hardware and software of ONT, accomplishing systhesis access of Broad Band data, telephone and CATV. This text discusses in detail how to design and realize ONT that can come true access of Broad Band data, telephone and CATV.In the first of the dissertation,the background and development history of EPON are summed up,and the principle and key technology of EPON are introduced.At that time, this paper expounds that APON dissatisfy demand of network Broad Band for people resulting in appearance of EPON that Ethenet and PON combine,and describes principle,topology setting as well as key technology of EPON.In the second of the dissertation,hardware design in detail of ONT is introduced.Firstly,this paper describes entire design idea and implement method of ONT,then expatiating on design and implement of three basic service about Broad Band data, telephone and CATV.In the third of the dissertation,the paper briefs software design of ONT,with regard to VoIP. This paper describes entire design idea and implement method of ONT,then introducing mostly content of H.323 protocol,and describes software design flow of VoIP along with software system of voice gateway on H.323.In addition,The peper specifys translate and edit of almost software as well as development on TCP/IP protocol.At the last of the dissertation, the hardware testing of ONT is introduced.The paper describes mostly content of entire hardware testing,specifying testing content and testing instance of three service. In Broad Band ,Curcuit signal graphics is achieved by oscillograph ,and packet loss rate , throughput, Latency , back-to-back and so on.;In VoIP, the device can communicate with FXO 3804 of TAIWAN Welltech and DT60 of BEIJING JIAXUN FEIHONG, At that time, Ethereal and PalmTool of PA1688 testing are introduced; In CATV, flatness ,signal graphics of radio frequency are tested by CATV stroboscope.
