Research And Application Of Epon In Baotou Union Access Networks

The telecom industry is booming due to the fast development of communication and computer technology. There is a dramatic change of the core of network, but the shift of access network seems to slow down the development of the whole network. EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) is a new technology, which through a single fiber access system, realize the data, voice and video of the integrated service access and cost-efficient. FTTH is regarded as the best solution of broadband access.Meanwhile EPON will become a main technology of broadband access.According to the features of EPON network structure, the advantages of broadband to the home as well as the dynamic integration of computer network, EPON is widely accepted by world wild experts as the best intermediary which enables the three kinds of networks to integrate and information superhighway to solve the problem of "last mile" access network.The research will focus on following aspects. The first part will mainly explain the principle of EPON, the key technology and its technological superiority. Then it will introduce its three applications of access network。In this part, the application solution of office buildings and neighborhood will be shown; meanwhile, the cost analysis of EPON and traditional access will be compared. Besides which, a neighborhood of ChinaUnicom is set as an example which indicates the analysis of demand design, networking selection and test. Finally it will prove EPON is a mature technology that can satisfy the need of website application. Last part will give a summary and look into its future.
