The Verification Environment Of MAC Using Vera

MAC:Media Access Control,is mostly used in Ethernet, it used for connetting physical layer with data link layer. Along with the development of Ethernet, the MAC function also becomes more and more complicated, more multiplicity: for speed, it offers 10M, 100M, 1000M; for control characteristics, provides half duplex and full duplex, for connect mode, contains MII, RMII, GMII, RGMII, TBI ...etc. The MAC we will verify is an IP that sustain the whole functions we touched upon.The language Vera is fetched by Synopsys, it is an intuitionistic, Object Oriented, advanced language that used for verification. It is specialized for satisfying the special need of function test. It provided such as"class", thus strong data structure and convenient process supervision, supporting numerous hardware characteristics at the same time. Currently the newest dition that used is 2005.06SP1 in Linux (until 2006-9).This dissertation is to discuss how to use Vera to build a reuse, blocking, hiberarchy verification environment that used for test universal MAC, analyzed the design method of every module in the verification platform, investigate the design method of reuse verification platform of IP, and then studies the reuse methodology in the verification ( include reuse of both module and vefication configuration ).
