National Image is so important that it takes effect on the status and role played by the nation in the globe community. This study focuses on the newspaper reports about the Olympic Games of People Daily from 1984 to 2004, trying to find out how People Daily construct national image, and the power, which affect these reports. First, through analyzing these reports, we can find that national image through certain issues selected and represented in a frame. The research of this section includes reportorial quantity, subject, type, position and sources. Secondly, to analyses the headline and direct speech of People Daily's front page. Furthermore, select one piece of news to go deep into for "reportorial framing" research, so as to understand how People Daily set up current affairs. Through working over this subject, it comes to the conclusion that the framing of People Daily's Olympic report has following four characteristics: obviously national recognition, fairly strong politically-oriented, a sense of optimistic culture and collective focus concept. Finally, in combination of social and realistic background, it finds out that People Daily's reportorial framing is a triple result of interest group pressure, social criteria and journalistic routines, which is the underlying mechanism of its Olympic report.
