| The Third Plenary Session of the 18 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made the establishment of a national park system one of the key reform tasks, and building a national park system is an important part of promoting the construction of ecological civilisation in China. How to promote environmental protection with the environmental science literacy of all people, create a good ecological environment, achieve green development, promote the improvement of people’s livelihood, live in harmony with nature and build out a green development model is the key point to consider during the construction process.China Environment News is the most authoritative and influential environmental news media in China,so it is the responsibility and obligation of the media to promote the national parks,to integrate them into the daily lives of ordinary people, and to make them truly "grounded" and useful for education and recreation. This paper takes the reports on national parks in China Environment News in the past ten years as the research object, and collects a total of 1001 samples.Using content analysis and textual analysis as research methods,we firstly analyse the characteristics of the overall situation of national park coverage in terms of the number of reports, report genres, report sources, report pages, report tendencies, report regions and report themes.Secondly,a summary analysis of the topics covered revealed that the newspaper paid the most attention to political issues. The newspaper’s five reporting frameworks were: "Policy and Interpretation","Effectiveness and Pathways","Popularisation and Education","People and Stories",and "The National Park",The frames are "People and Stories" and "International".The framework theory is then used to analyse their reporting frameworks with the help of Gamson’s ’interpretive parcel’ theory tool and to draw out the characteristics of their national park reporting. The study found that China Environment News’ coverage of national parks is characterised by: firstly,a clear position in reporting, keeping up with the policies of the times;secondly,a comprehensive framing device and rich content in topics;and thirdly,a focus on reporting results and showcasing construction achievements. The above analysis also revealed some shortcomings in the current coverage: firstly, there are mostly "hard" reports and the proportion of reports is unbalanced;secondly, there is a single source of reports and a lack of civil discourse;thirdly, there is insufficient supervision of news and public opinion;and fourthly, there is a lack of humanistic care. The first is to "soften" the content of the reports and balance the angle and quantity of coverage;the second is to strengthen the function of public opinion monitoring, balance the discourse of multiple parties and increase humanistic concern;and the last is to deepen the environmental vertical and build a communication matrix. |
