With the development of computer technology, classical instruments are undergoing a computerization. As the products of modern computer-technology, instrument technology and other new technologies, virtual instrument, with its powerful functions products, has transcended the concept of an instrument. However, the situations in the establishment and development of laboratories in higher education institutions tend to be that experiment instruments are left behind the curriculum requirements and that the limited investment into education cannot meet the demands for updated instruments due to their cost and higher rates of renewal. These motivated the author to participate into the development of the virtual instruments particularly used in teaching.Based upon the concept of virtual instrument, the current dissertation selects LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) which is an open application software in the development of virtual instrument, and a graphic programming language and designs the teaching-oriented simulation system to test instrument data communication . The author makes a detailed and profound study on the working principles and operation procedures of the testing instruments such as DR240 Hybrid Recorder and WT110 Digital Power Meter, which are widely recognized as significant in the areas of data communication and particularly used in the testing system for the refrigerators of the Haier Corporations. In accordance with LabVIEW, the author has successfully made simulation of DR240 Hybrid Recorder and WT110 Digital Power Meter, but is primarily used in the dealing with the testing data documents and synchronic simulative testing of the objects. A simulation system of testing suitable for teaching is thus constructed. In line with the notion in the area of virtual instrument that 'software is instrument' and the purpose of developing the system to serve teaching, the study has made significant and pragmatic contributions to increasing the teaching standards, developing students' competence of practical operations, and shortening the period of adjustment to the workforce environments the students later...
