The verification methodology of integrated circuit design is currently an advanced issue in the domain of integrated circuit and system. It's important that complex designs are simulated fully before prototypes are built. So the technique of verification is a critical research task in the EDA technology domain. The verification of HR6P73PGDA, an 8-bit CMOS micro controller unit of Shanghai Haier IC Co Ltd, was divided into three correlative levels. The first level is system verification, which focus on ensuring the requirement and the constraint could be represented correctly in the function and structure; The second level of verification named logic verification, which processes model checking on result of logical synthesis based on the completion of system verification; The third level, i.e. checking circuit, determines whether the circuit structure can satisfy the requirement and constraint, which is called verification of circuit level. In this thesis, several verification methods, the system application and module analyze, the verification tools and the verification languages are introduced. And the design verification and emulation is described in detail by the instance that the synchronous serial port module of the micro controller unit works in the I2C mode. However, there are also some insufficiencies. The verification for the SSP module in the I2C mode concerns on the 7-bit address, while 10-bit address is put aside. As the verification methods, in order to increase the verification efficiency, further research is necessary on reuse of verification platform.
