The main work of the dissertation is concerned with the application of CAN on the vehicle's electronics and the design of the CAN interface on the ECU of AMT (Automated Mechanical Transmission) .With an overview on the technique of vehicle's automatic speed control and the principles of AMT, the design of a micro-controller MC9S12DG128 based AMT's ECU is introduced with detailed description of the minimal system, input channels and the motor drives. The strategy for the AMT's speed control is studied and discussed.Then the focus is put on the application and analysis of CAN interface with the AMT's ECU as the object. The fundamentals of CAN is presented in some detail, and the design of the CAN interface is described. Modularized method is applied for the software design, the filter and acceptance mechanism is fully studied in the setup of the communication protocols of the CAN based vehicle fieldbus system.The addition of CAN interface on AMT's ECU will simplify and optimize the design of the ECU, bringing the reduction of cost and the improvement of performance, and supporting the application of vehicle's fieldbus based control system. What is done in the dissertation is a preliminary work of such an evolution.
