Infrared Focal Plane Array(IRFPA)is a key part of the infrared system and thermal imaging device, being applied extensively in the military and civil field. It has huge market potential and applying prospect.Some western developed countries have been putting great emphasis on the developing and researching of the IRFPA for a long time. Owing to the significance of IRFPA for military stratagem, it is urgent to develop our own IRFPA .The research work should be sped up from the following aspects,such as materials,devices, Readout Integrated Circuit(ROIC),testing and signal processing. The ROIC and testing technology play an important role in the studying of the IRFPA,which are related to how to take out the signals of IRFPA accurately and efficiently and how to evaluate the performance of IRFPA exactly.This paper presents the theoretical and experimental research on the ROIC and testing system of IRFPA. The main contents are as follows: (1)A few basic types of the ROIC of IRFPA are compared, and the noise of ROIC is theoretically analyzed. (2)A ROIC design that has the Capacitor Feedback Transimpedance Amplifier (CTIA) and Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) structure is put forward,which is simulated and analyzed based on the PSPICE software. (3)A testing system is established to measure the parameters of IRFPA, such as detectivity(D*), responsivity(R), Noise Equivalent Power(NEP) and Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference(NETD),which consists of the module of infrared source and IRFPA, the module of controlment and the module of amplifying, acquiring and processing of the signal. It is used to test the thermal imaging system,and the experimental results are in accordance with the theoretical values. (4)Simulative research of the IRFPA system is implemented, which includes testing ,processing and analyzing the data of the ROIC for the small scale IRFPA fabricated by our laboratory.It provides certain instructions to the laboratorial research on the fabrication of the IRFPA. Concerning the problems and difficulties during testing of the small scale IRFPA fabricated by our laboratory, the main reasons are analyzed, and the possible solution is presented.
