| With the combination of computer and telecommunication, network has been working everywhere as a basic establishment in our daily life. From original APPANET to today's Internet,network scale becomes larger;from simple file transmission to e-business, videoconference, network function turns more;and from small LAN to global connection, network structure gets complex. What's more, network security defense hike in break, equipment comes various, Next Generation Network puts forward. These developments require higher quality of network management.Network management inspects network equipment, gets performance data then does analysis and control in order to make it sure that network system works credibly and efficiently, which can manage the new problem that the development of network brings. Network performance management is an important field, which should be made corresponding development, too.In this paper, as the performance data collected from the network equipment, being stored and analyzed, network administrators can get warning massages simultaneously, solve problems promptly, make a reasonable forecast of future network utilization,and thus modify the configuration parameter so that the network can run in an optimum state.The thesis has reviewed and analyzed actuality in the field of network management and concluded the characters and limits of related technologies. SNMP now has been the standard in fact, WEB based, policy based and CORBA based network management has been the new method.
