The Research, Design And Implementation Of SNMP-based Campus Network Performance Management System

Network performance management is an important part of network managementsystem. The purpose of performance management is maintaining quality and efficiency ofnetwork service, especially for nonprofit network, such as campus network.SNMP is an application layer protocol that defines the exchange of managementinformation between network management station and network devices. Now SNMP iswidely supported and applied on managing network and has become the industry standardin practice. Most of applications of network management and platforms are based onSNMP, undoubtedly SNMP can also be used to manage campus network.This paper makes research on the campus network based on SNMP, the research andimplementation include the following aspects:Comparing and analyzing the main network management systems in home and abroadon models, features and developing techniques, analyzing the requirements andcharacteristics of campus network management, the actual significance of developingcampus network oriented management system.Discussing in depth some new features and key techniques available in campusnetwork oriented management system design.Making the analysis to CNPMS prototype system, the system overall design and thefunction modules design, under the framework of SNMP-based campus networkperformance management system.Illustrating the detailed implementation to SNMP-based campus network performancemanagement system CNPMS.Testing and analyzing the test results to CNPMS prototype. Verifying the originaldesigning thoughts, and giving out a conclusion.
