Laser diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPL) have become a developing focus of novel solid-state lasers and have wide applications in material processing, military, medical therapeutics, and basic research, etc., due to their advantages, such as high efficiency, compactness, steadiness, long lifetime and all-solid-state construction. High-power LD pumped green laser has become the researching emphasis because its potential application in material processing, laser isolation of uranium isotopes, etc. Ultraviolet laser has wide applications in industry, medical treatment, and basic research, due to its characters of shorter wave, good capability of focusing, high photon energy, and cold-treating.In theory, first, the operating principle of LD-pumped high-power all solid-state laser is analyzed. Then, the characteristics of threshold pump power, output power, slope efficiency, and input-output are discussed. Finally, the second harmonic generation (SHG) theory, nonlinear optical sum-frequency theories and A-0 Q-switch theories are analyzed. Besides, the characters of laser crystal Nd:YAG and nonlinear crystals of KTP and LBO are all introduced.Based on the theories above, we design a set of " LD side-pumped high power green laser" and a set of " LD pumped 355nm all solid state ultraviolet laser". The former can output 68W 532nm laser its pulse width is 201ns. when the fundamental radiation of 1064nm is 101W under the A-0 Q-switch frequency is 10. 2kHz. And the later can output 503mW ultraviolet at pumped current of 18A under the A-0 Q-switch frequency 2.8 kHz.
