A Study About The Development Of University Town Library In China

University Town is a new thing in China in recent years. It provides a new environment for the construction of University Library, thus a special type of library also appears in China. University Town Library(UTL)does not refer to a specific library in the University Town, and it makes many libraries together, emphasizes a holistic concept, proceeds from the whole, which is sharing information resources organization built by the libraries, and is greater than the sum of Libraries under isolation in quantity, quality and function. Compared with the traditional University Library and Public Library, UTL has a unique function, it promotes the sharing of resources of University Town, services for the teaching and research of University Town, also is cultural and leisure center , at the same time, because of its open construction, to some extent promotes the development of community cultural construction in the city.For the present, the construction mode of UTL in China: single library mode, branch library mode, independent library mode and united virtual network mode. Various construction modes has its own advantages, disadvantages and applicable scope, University Town should consider fully from capital, land, the actual situation of the universities, explores a model for self-construction, also proposes that UTL can use an integrated model in the continuous process of development: the combination of the substantial public library and sharing platform of information resources.In the University Library's specific construction process, although some achievements have been made, but there are many problems, where the factors that influence the construction of University Town fall into four areas: the constraints of ideas, backward management system, lack of coordination mechanisms, self-interest conflict. Accordingly proposed the construction Strategy of UTL: setting up the overall, open and sharing's ideas, putting for opening and resource sharing of the University Library, offering subject to establish operation system of the trinity of government, schools and market, on basis of coordinating the relationship between the various libraries of University Town, optimizing resource allocation and constructing information sharing platform at the core, with the purpose of carrying out a variety of services.
