Design And Implementation Of Archives Management System Based On SOA

Application of Information Systems (ISs) is very common now after several decades of efforts of digitalization in various domains. The architecture of ISs has evolved from mainframe-terminal, to client-server (C/S) and now to browser-server model (B/S). However, along with the rapid development of technology and the frequent change of needs and application environments, ISs tend to have short usage life cycle as they are often abandoned very soon without being fully exploited. Moreover, effective communication and interoperability among ISs are still far beyond a reality. Therefore it has been a long-standing focus and challenge in industry in terms of how to meet the needs of a rapid-changing environment while lengthening the life cycle of ISs, for the purpose of protecting investments, andhowto enable effective information exchange between ISs.This thesis presents a solution for archives management system with integration of documents and files based on service-oriented architecture (SOA). The resulting archives management system focuses on the reuse of ISs'functionality, communication among ISs and comprehensive application of various kinds of information, in order to uniformly process documents and files.The thesis is organized as follows. Firstly, SOA is introduced from the perspective of digitalization solutions, including the SOA frameworks, components, reference models and related technologies, standards and the history of development. Further discussed are the on-going research topics for SOA. Secondly, based on a detailed analysis of issues and the current techniques used in archives management, especially the requirement of uniformly processing documents and archives files, the paper presents the general framework of integration of documents and archives, where appropriate SOA technologies and products are used. Thirdly, algorithms and models of documents management, identification of test paper, and archives management are studied, based on the SOA solution proposed, and corresponding systems are designed and finally implemented. Conclusions and future work are discussed at last.
