Process industry is one of the key industries in national economy. Process industry Computer Integrated Process System (CIPS) is a key technology to improve the competitiveness of process industry enterprises. It was generally acknowledged that the CIPS is made up of three layers, Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP) layer, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) layer and process control system (PCS) layer. The devices of PCS, which is the representative of the basic automation layer, includes a variety of sensors, actuators, controllers etc. These devices are often from different countries'different manufacturers whose data forms for connections between devices and controllers is often different. And the interaction among devices is lack of common standards. Therefore, it is difficult to achieve the data integration among all the equipments and controllers, which will affect the whole optimization of the CIPS enterprise.This thesis firstly analyzes the characteristics of process industry devices, the networking development trends of the existing control system and the data integration status of the field equipments. On this basis, we present a XML based data integration method and discusses the feasibility using XML language to achieve the data integration in basic automation layer. Subsequently we carries on the theory research of XML based data integration in basic automation layer. And present a XML based data representation method that is suitable for basic automation layer. Then, the XML file and its schema file for data collection, sensor calibration and configuration are designed. In this study, A XML based data integration demonstration system in basic automation layer, which includes a smart sensor node and a controller node is designed, The smart sensor node are implemented on the basis of the STM32 MCU and theμC/OS-II embedded operating system. In this research the software design,including tasks design and inter-communication mechanism among tasks is given. The controller node are implemented based on the S3C2410 embedded processor and the WinCE operating system, and this thesis gives the controller node's software design and carries out the parsing and validation of XML documents, the calibration of sensors , the collection and display of data. Also, the XML language is used to represent the Transducer Electronics Data Sheet (TEDS) from the IEEE 1451 smart sensor standards and the XML fomented TEDS file, which is the foundation of the online calibration and"plug and play"of the sensor is designed.
