With the rapid development of computer and communication technologies, the sensor technology has developed into a new period, namely the smart and networked sensors. The intelligent technology provides a sensor a smart brain so that it has the ability of data processing .The network technology makes sensors having ways to communicate. It is very important for network technology to improve the abilities of smart sensors in data processing and transmission. In this paper, the key technologies of smart networked sensors are studied, especially the design and implementation of the software and hardware for their smart networked interfaces.First of all, the IEEE 1451 protocol is studied, especially the definition of the network capable application processor (NCAP) in IEEE 1451.1 and the definition of the smart transducer interface module and the transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS) in IEEE 1451.2.By the way, a node of the sensor can become a web server, so sensors data can be read on Internet. Also, the function of adaptive multi-sensor can be realized by the submission of the TEDS.Secondly, after the analysis of different steps in realization of networked sensors, and the choice of a suitable developing platform-TMI1451.2-SC, including software and hardware, for the research project, in this paper, a kind of smart net worked interface is developed for smart sensors. Based on IEEE 1451 standard and an embedded real-time multi-task operation system, a design scheme is presented for the design of such an interface.Based on these studies and according to demands of multi-sensors auto-machine clamp system on product line, a well-adaptable and well-reliable design proposal with the standard of IEEE 1451,for smart networked sensors interfaces is raised, including its software and hardware.
