The Research And Implementation Of Middleware Based On IEEE 1451 Standard

Sensor technology, communication technology and computer technology are considented to be the important information technology signs. All the three technology are combined to advance the network smart sensor technology, which guide the research of sensor technology to a higher level. IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineer) proposeled IEEE 1451 standard in order to achieve several goals, including standard network smart sensor interface, interchangeability and interoperability between different sensors, and effective distributed sensor network monitoring.Because there are so many abstract frameworks and functions described in IEEE 1451 standard, it would be a tough work for common user to understand and applicate the complicated criterion. The concept of middleware is imported here to solve this problem, because its operating transparence could combined with IEEE 1451 standard to improve a convenient universal sensor network. Middleware technology is one of central technology for distributed system, it locates between distributed applications and operating system, and could handle different rock-bottom operating,network protocol and complex database. It has many excellences, including predigest procedure of development, management and maintainance for distributed network applications, supporting QoS (quility of service) and information security, and so on.This paper intrduce the characters of IEEE 1451 standard, middleware technology and XML, summarize a set of middleware framework schemes used in smart sensor network area, discuss the design principles and function fundations of 1451-based middleware framework, especially analyse the data format and communicaton pattern described in 1451 standard, and finally implement all the communication and data-transform function blocks. By using XML format, the framework advance its network ability to cater to the development of IEEE 1451 standard. There are also proper DB and service design for the user's convenience.The IEEE 1451-based middleware framework interpret the implement procedure of IEEE 1451 standard, integrate different sensor network, release the user's burden of using complex standard, and provide a universal working platform and implement pattern for future researching on IEEE 1451 standard.
